Waterfowl for Warriors
Organizers / Sponsors
The Waterfowl for Warriors hunting program is organized by volunteers from local law enforcement agencies, American Legion, Fire Department, and hunting enthusiasts. The program is provided by the City of Anoka and sponsored by many great local businesses and organizations as a thank you to local Veterans and active Military members.
We cannot thank our Nation’s military men and women enough. Without their sacrifices we would not have the ability to truly understand what freedom is.
Hunters are required to provide their own shotgun and to purchase all applicable licenses/stamps according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and federal regulations. Volunteers provide everything else needed to create the memories of a quality hunt, including:
- Blinds and Decoys
- Dogs for Retrieving
- Field Lunch

Youth - Waterfowl Hunting Program
The Youth Waterfowl for Warriors hunting program is for the sons, daughters and grandchildren of active Military Service Members or Veterans. Youth ages 10 to 17 are eligible to participate. Firearm safety certification is required for youth age 13 to 15 years. A non-hunting adult chaperone must accompany the youth during the hunt.
Participants will experience a guided hunt with mentoring as needed in both a field and shoreline location within the Anoka Nature Preserve.
MN DNR Youth Waterfowl Hunting Weekend is September 12 and 13, 2020. The Youth Waterfowl for Warriors Hunting activity will take place on Saturday September 12 and 13, 2020 at the Anoka Nature Preserve. Saturday Sept 12 is full. Accepting registrations for Sunday Sept 13. Registration is required. To register, download and submit your registration form.
We have added additional Adult and Youth hunts for 2020 in an effort to serve the same number of hunters with fewer hunters allowed to register per date. Applicable MN Governor Executive Orders will be enforced such as social distancing and the wearing of masks. Hunters will be expected to wear masks when social distancing is not possible. By participating in this activity you are acknowledging and accepting responsibility for health risks associated with COVID-19 and your personal health. If you don’t feel well on the morning of your hunt please stay home.
