Current Projects
The Park and Recreation Board assists staff with identifying and prioritizing annual park projects.
Capital Improvements are major repairs or improvements that require allocations of additional funds from the capital improvement fund dedicated for such items. Playground replacements, painting or replacement of shelters, construction of smaller amenities such as kayak launch, trail repairs or overlays, retaining wall reconstruction, etc
New Park Construction typically utilizes park dedication funds paid by developers of new housing developments or projects. The city also seeks grant funding from a variety of local, state, and federal sources to help build facilities and amenities for parks and safe pedestrian travel.

River Walk - Rum River Trail West
The River Walk concept is part of the South Ferry Street redevelopment study. The City began studying this corridor in 2013, identifying key areas along the corridor that would impact redevelopment.

Rudy Johnson Park
The Rudy Johnson Park master planning process began in spring 2018. Several outlets were utilized to gather input regarding the desired park improvements including an online survey and open house.

John Ward Park
This park will receive a new restroom building in 2022 and renovated skate park in 2024. The planning and design process for the skate park will occur during the summer/fall of 2022 with fundraising for the new skate park in 2023.
